LUXURY
One of the most amazing trekking routes in the world may be explored with our luxury Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. Accommodations, private guides, massage therapists, refreshments, hot showers, private transportation, and upscale camping gear are all included in a luxury trip to Machu Picchu. You’ll have plenty of time to see other neighboring Inca monuments, such Llaqtapata, and explore Machu Picchu at your own speed.
Discover the hidden treasures of Salkantay, learn about the Incas, and immerse yourself in Andean culture. Prepare a Pachamanca Barbecue, camp at Llaqtapata in front of Machu Picchu, travel through the cloud forest, see coffee fields, visit Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain, and get there early for the dawn.
The five-day, four-night Luxury Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu will allow you to see the snow-capped Salkantay mountains, the lush tropical valleys of the Santa Teresa district, the secret lakes of Humantay, and Machu Picchu early in the morning.
Enjoy our pachamanca hot stone grill, tour organic coffee plantations, and set up tent in the mountains in front of Machu Picchu on the third day of our adventure. To offer a memorable experience, our Salkantay journey includes shaman ceremonies, massage therapists, luxury camping gear, experienced local guides, skilled trekking cooks, and local porters.
After being picked up at 4:30 am from your Cusco hotel, you will travel for 3.5 hours to Challacancha, where your trekking chef will cook a delectable breakfast for you. After breakfast, you will begin a three-hour, moderate journey to Soraypampa, which is located at 3800 meters (12467 feet). Your trekking chef will be ready with a delectable lunch made with local, fresh ingredients.
Following lunch, you will climb for about two hours to Humantay Lake, where you may explore the area around the stunning lake with turquoise water. The second portion of the day begins with a one-hour climb to the basecamp, which is located at 3900m (12795ft), just underneath the Salkantay peak. Your cozy tents will be ready when you go to the campground; all you have to do is settle down, get a drink, and take in the stunning Andean scenery.
Prepare for the most difficult day of the Salkantay Tour by waking up in your tent with a stunning view of the mountains and sipping a nice cup of coffee or coca tea. Following breakfast, you will begin a strenuous climb to the Salkantay pass, which is 4630/15190 feet above sea level and the highest point of the excursion. As your Andean shaman makes a customary sacrifice to Pachamama (Mother Earth), you will have some time to unwind and take in the sights of the snow-capped peaks once you reach the pass. Two hours from the pass, in Wayraqmachay settlement, lunch will be provided.
The second portion of the day will involve a three-hour descent to the second campground at Collpapampa town, which is situated at 2800 meters (9186 feet) above sea level in the cloud forest. With our opulent gear, we will camp close to the town; the weather is pleasant and it’s a fantastic spot to have a hot shower, get an Inca massage, and eat dinner before bed.
Following the village’s breakfast, you will begin a three-hour hike through the Cloud Forest, which is home to bridges, waterfalls, granadilla and banana plantations, and beautiful green flora, until you reach Lucmabamba Village, where lunch will be provided.
You will help prepare this Andean specialty, a unique Pachamanca hot stone grill, for lunch. Following lunch, you will go to an organic coffee plantation to make your own coffee and see how it is harvested. After that, you will climb for three hours to reach the Llaqtapata Inca site via an old Inca trail. This is where you will first see Machu Picchu, the Lost Inca Citadel. A modest cabin directly in front of Machu Picchu is the ideal place to spend the night.
Located on a mountain directly in front of Machu Picchu, Llaqtapata offers the most breathtaking dawn and sunset views over the ruins, if the weather permits. The final five hours of the trip to Aguas Calientes town (Machu Picchu Pueblo) begin after the trekking crew has finished their final breakfast. Additionally, you will trek around Machu Picchu Mountain, see the Mandor Botanical Gardens, and see the Sundial at Hidroelectrica.
Before finding the magnificent fortress of Machu Picchu, Hiram Bingham III visited Mandor in 1911, making it a unique location rich in history. In the town of Aguas Calientes, you will stay in a four-star hotel for the night.
You will take the early busses up to Machu Picchu to witness the stunning dawn after breakfast at your accommodation. About three to four hours are needed for the guided tour of Machu Picchu fortress.
Following your tour guide’s visit to the most significant locations in Machu Picchu, including temples, palaces, and terraces, you will have free time to explore further or walk to Montaña Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu Mountain. You will eat lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge following your completion of the Machu Picchu Tour. Take the Exclusive Vistadome trains back to Cusco later in the day.
