Huayna Picchu Mountain:
You can ascend Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind Machu Picchu, following your guided tour of the citadel. The two-hour round-trip trek is well worth the effort since it provides a distinctive and famous view of Machu Picchu from an other angle.
Vistadome Train:
Large panoramic windows on the Vistadome train provide continuous views of the stunning natural surroundings. You will have a cultural experience on your way back from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, complete with folkloric dances, traditional music, and an enthralling carriage display of alpaca couture. The journey will become a celebration of the Sacred Valley’s history with the addition of a delicious lunch produced using local products.
NOTE: There are no traditional events, folkloric dances, or alpaca shows on the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes.
Vistadome Observatory:
With its panoramic windows, the Vistadome Observatory is a first-rate rail service that lets you completely enjoy the stunning scenery along the way. Its bar carriage, which offers travelers a varied cultural experience, is one of its distinctive qualities. This includes an alpaca fashion display, mesmerizing ethnic dances, and traditional Andean music, all of which are presented inside the train. Additionally, visitors are allowed to join in on the dancing, which gives the trip a joyous and engaging feel.
The train also features an open balcony, which is ideal for shooting breathtaking outdoor photos. However, please note that access to the bar carriage is time-limited due to the amount of passengers on board at each planned departure.
Additionally, a delicious snack produced with local ingredients is offered, providing a gastronomic flavor of the Sacred Valley’s cultural legacy.
We provide a variety of pick-up choices for our Machu Picchu day excursion, from extremely early to later departures. We now provide two options. The full itineraries for each choice, along with the corresponding pick-up times, are listed below.
Option 1: at 3:00 am pick-up from Cusco.
For your one-day trip to Machu Picchu, we will pick you up at 3:00 am from Cusco. From there, our business transport will drive you for an hour and a half to the Sacred Valley hamlet of Ollantaytambo, where we will board the train to Aguas Calientes town. Along the route, you will see breathtaking scenery, including the snow-capped peaks of Veronica, lush green valleys, and agricultural platforms. The train ride itself is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Downstream of the Sacred Valley along the Urubamba River. After arriving in Aguas Calientes at 6:40 am, you will travel for approximately half an hour by bus to Machu Picchu. We must provide the passport and Machu Picchu ticket that your guide will be holding at the Machu Picchu checkpoint. Your guide will lead you to the upper portion of Machu Picchu so you may snap a postcard picture once you cross the Mapi checkpoint. After that, you will have a two-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu where you will see all of the site’s attractions and learn about the Inca culture. The Sun Temple, the Temple of Three Windows, the Incas House, Main Plaza, Wayrana, Sacred Rock, and more will all be on your itinerary.
After seeing the citadel, you’ll take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have some free time to explore this lovely town and select a spot to have lunch. At 2:55 pm, you’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo, from where you’ll take a private van to Cusco. We will drop you off at your hotel at 7:00 p.m.
Option 2: at 6:00 am pick-up from Cusco.
Our driver will pick you up from your Cusco hotel at 6:00 a.m. for a private ride to Ollantaytambo, which will take you through the picturesque Sacred Valley for around an hour and thirty minutes. We will board the train to Aguas Calientes at 8:29 a.m. after arriving at about 8:00 a.m. This one-and-a-half-hour trip follows the Urubamba River through steep valleys, towns, and verdant surroundings.
We will arrive in Aguas Calientes at around 10:00 a.m., board the bus to Machu Picchu, and reach the entrance at about 11:00 a.m. Following ticket control, you will have a two-hour guided tour of the most significant temples and buildings, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Sacred Rock, and the Intihuatana, while learning about Inca astronomy, engineering, and history. We will also head to the upper part of Machu Picchu to take the iconic picture.
After the visit, we will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch, which is not included, before catching the train back to Ollantaytambo at 4:43 p.m. After that, a private car will transport you to Cusco, where you should arrive at your hotel around 8:00 p.m., capping an amazing day.
